Frequently Asked Questions

Our Concierge Care and Functional Medicine Approach

What is concierge care?

Concierge care is a personalized and patient-centered healthcare model that emphasizes a close doctor-patient relationship and increased access to medical care. In this approach, our patients receive more individualized attention and comprehensive care. We limit our number of patients to ensure they receive their dedicated time and attention from Dr. Myra. This allows for longer appointments, unhurried discussions, and a proactive approach to wellness. Additionally, concierge care often includes benefits like 24/7 availability, and the ability to reach out to your doctor via technology for non-urgent concerns. The goal of concierge care is to provide high-quality, personalized care that puts your needs and preferences at the forefront. Learn More About Concierge Care

What is functional medicine?
Functional medicine is an innovative and holistic approach to healthcare that focuses on addressing the underlying causes of health issues rather than just treating symptoms. It takes into account the unique genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that contribute to your health. In our practice, we believe symptoms don’t happen in isolation. With thorough examinations, we can uncover how the interconnectedness of your various bodily systems influences overall well-being. By identifying and addressing root causes, we promote optimal health by solving and preventing chronic diseases. We achieve this with personalized treatment plans that may include dietary changes, lifestyle modifications, supplements, and more. Learn More About Functional Medicine
Are concierge and functional services separate?
Not at all! In our practice, we use a combination of concierge care and functional medicine to provide patients with care that is thorough, comprehensive, and dedicated to their well-being. With a functional medicine approach, Dr. Myra views health concerns through a holistic lens. She works to uncover the root causes of health issues and creates personalized plans that address the underlying factors. This method, combined with her concierge care, allows for focused time and unrushed appointments. Dr. Myra’s patients benefit from open discussions, proactive guidance, and accessibility beyond the office through telemedicine and house calls. This effective healthcare approach promises devoted care that meets each patient’s unique needs and fosters optimal well-being.

When can I start?
As long as there is an available spot, enrollment is open year-round! In the event the practice is full, we maintain a waiting list on a first-come, first-served basis.
Who can be a patient?
Anyone! We treat patients anywhere from the age of 17 to older. If you have a chronic illness, or you just want to improve your wellness, we welcome you to join our practice. You can benefit from our membership no matter what stage of life you’re in.
How does your membership differ from a traditional healthcare practice?
At our practice, we put our patient’s time and health first. We limit the number of patients we see to provide each patient with the focused and individualized care they deserve. Office visits are never rushed. We ensure each patient has enough time to address all of their health concerns. With longer appointments, patients can benefit from a more in-depth doctor-patient relationship. As Dr. Myra gets to know you, she can anticipate your health concerns and take the extra time for a proactive approach to wellness. As a result, you can benefit from a reduced need for visits to specialists and better overall health. Dr. Myra Reed is also readily available for her patients—even on weekends or holidays—which is something that you won’t find in most traditional medical practices.
Is there a cancellation fee?
There is no cancellation fee, but if you have to cancel your membership for any reason, we require a 30-day notice.
Do I still benefit from the membership even if I don’t expect to need frequent medical attention?
Dr. Myra Reed’s wellness approach is all about being proactive rather than reactive, so even if you don’t need frequent care, you can still gain from our membership! Dr. Myra will examine your personal and genetic risk factors for potential risks of diseases. With this information, she will create a specialized plan to keep illnesses at bay before they arise. Our advanced testing, genetic insights, and thorough assessments reveal a lot about what’s happening inside your body, helping us prevent illness or tackle it early. And the perks go beyond that – with preventative care, you can have potential savings in reduced medication reliance, reduced urgent care expenses, and fewer chances of needing an ER visit. It’s about keeping you healthy, today and tomorrow.
How do I become a member?
If you are ready to start your journey toward better health, you can request a membership agreement through email or pick one up at our office. All you have to do is sign the membership agreement and provide your preferred form of payment. For more details, please call 850-249-5000 or you can sign up for your membership here.

Appointments and Referrals

Does Dr. Myra Reed make house calls, nursing, or hospital visits?
The decision is made on a case-by-case basis and may include an additional fee, but she currently makes house calls, nursing home, and hospital visits when necessary.
What is telemedicine?
Telemedicine is the ability to contact your physician virtually through a HIPAA-compliant portal to receive treatment. It can be a very convenient way to receive treatment when you are traveling or too busy to get to our office. With our membership, the AthenaHealth Telemedicine application allows you to have 24/7 access to Dr. Myra Reed. When you need treatment, she can assess you and send in any necessary prescriptions based on the virtual visit. We most frequently use telemedicine to treat rashes, insect bites, and the common cold, along with giving lab reviews and medication refills, which means you can save time and money by avoiding unnecessary trips to the office.
What if I’m from out of town?
No matter if you live near our office in Panama City Beach or you’re from outside the area, you can be a patient anywhere in Florida. Ideally, we would like you to come in for the initial consultation so we can get to know you in person and also come to the office at least once a year for a physical check-up, but for all other visits, we can treat you through telemedicine.
Do you accept walk-ins?
We cannot see you for urgent care unless you are a member. In our practice, strong doctor-patient relationships are at the core of our medical care. To ensure our patients have privacy and the complete attention of Dr. Myra Reed, we give them dedicated appointment times. As a reminder, same-day appointments and virtual consults through telemedicine are available. We simply request that you call our receptionist to schedule a time to come in.
Who cares for me if you are unavailable?
Dr. Myra stays in contact with her patients even if she is out of town or traveling. Through the Spruce App, patients can reach her for any questions or concerns with their health. If there is an urgent issue, she will coordinate with her team or other health professionals to get you the care you need.
Do I call you if I am hospitalized?
If you have a life-threatening emergency, call 911 immediately. After you call 911, you should call Dr. Myra. She will assist in the coordination of your emergency care and be your advocate to ensure you get the best treatment. We also ask you to contact her before going to any urgent care facility at any time of the day or night. She will attempt to address urgent after-hours problems directly so you can get the care you need without spending any unnecessary time or money.
What if I need a specialist?
Dr. Myra’s extensive medical training allows her to manage most of your healthcare needs. However, if you do need to see a specialist, we will find the right doctor for you and make sure you know who you are seeing, when, and where.

Payment and Insurance

How does the membership work with my insurance plan?
Insurance does not cover the membership fee. Our office will bill your insurance for medical services such as office visits and tests. Copays and deductibles will be collected as required by your insurance plan. If you don’t have medical insurance you can still join our practice and pay the cash rate for medical services.
Do you take Medicare patients?
Yes, we accept Medicare patients.
Can I use HSA to pay for my membership?
Because of varying regulations, there are many varieties of HSA plans, so it may or may not cover your membership depending on your plan. For that reason, you should contact your insurance provider to get personal reimbursement.
What are my payment options?
We have two payment options: monthly or annual. You can choose either option based on your preferred payment time.

Additional Services

Do I have to pay for additional services as a member?
As a member, you can enjoy our additional services at a discounted price!
Do I need to be a member of the practice to participate in weight loss, hormone pellets, cosmetic procedures, or IV nutrient therapy?
You do not need to be a member! All of our weight loss, hormone pellets, cosmetic procedures, and IV nutrient therapy services are available for members and non-members alike. If you’re interested in any weight loss or detox, simply call our front desk at 850-249-5000 or fill out a form and we will get you scheduled. Do I need to be a member for cosmetic treatments?
Our aesthetic services are available for everyone! Whether you are a member or not, you can receive any of the cosmetic treatments we provide including Botox, Dysport, filler, and more.
How do you choose the brand of supplements you recommend?
We choose our supplements based on scientific research to ensure our patients receive nothing less than the most effective and highest-quality ingredients. Many over-the-counter formulations have been diluted and have additives in them. For those reasons, we only ever recommend pure, high-quality third-party tested, medical-grade, organic, non-GMO supplements.
Does insurance cover the additional services?
Your coverage depends on the insurance you have, so it varies from case to case. We try to get your insurance to cover as much as possible, but it may not cover some specialized testing.
