Frequently Asked Questions
Concierge Medicine Explained
How Do Appointments & Referrals Work?
Q:
Does Dr. Myra Reed make house calls, nursing or hospital visits?
I currently make house calls, nursing home and hospital visits as necessary. That decision is made on a case-by-case basis and may be subject to an additional fee.
Q:
What is telemedicine and are there times Dr. Myra uses telemedicine to treat her patients?
Telemedicine is the ability to contact your physician using technology such as phone, text, email, Skype, Viber, etc. and to receive treatment. When appropriate, it can be a very convenient way to receive treatment when you are traveling or too busy to get to my office. I can assess you and send in any necessary prescriptions based on the virtual visit. Telemedicine is most frequently used to treat rashes, insect bites, and the common cold. This saves you both time and money.
Q:
What if I need a specialist?
Dr. Myra’s extensive medical training allows her to manage most of your health care needs. However, in the event that you do need to see a specialist we will find the right doctor for you and make sure you know who you are seeing, when, and where.
Q:
What if I need urgent care?
If you have a life-threatening emergency, call 911 immediately. After you call 911, please call me. I will assist in the coordination of your emergency care thereafter. Patients are asked to contact me before going to any urgent care facility and at any time of the day or night. I will attempt to address urgent after-hours problems directly.
Q:
Do you see walk-ins?
Our practice is based on the belief that the doctor-patient relationship is vital to good medical care. Our patients are given a scheduled appointment time to ensure privacy and the complete attention of Dr. Myra Reed. We cannot see you for urgent care if you are not an established patient. As a reminder, same-day appointments and virtual consults (telemedicine) are available. We simply request that you call our receptionist to set up a time to come in.
How Does Insurance Work In Your Practice?
Q:
How does this model work with my insurance plan and what if I don't have health insurance?
My office will bill your insurance for medical services such as office visits and tests. Copays and deductibles will be collected as required by your insurance plan. If you don’t have medical insurance you can still join my practice and pay the cash rate for medical services.
Q:
Do you take Medicare patients?
Yes, we do accept Medicare patients.
Q:
Can I use HSA to pay for membership?
Due to the many varieties of HSA plans with varying regulations, you should contact your insurance provider to seek personal reimbursement.

Q:
How do you choose the brand of supplements you recommend?

Typical Questions About Membership
Q:
How does a personalized medical practice differ from a traditional medical practice?
We restrict the number of patients to allow more focused time for each patient which results in finely tuned, customized medical care. My patients can address all of their health concerns with me and office visits are never rushed. I have the privilege of knowing all of my patients and can take the extra time for a proactive approach to wellness. The result is a reduced need for visits to specialists and better overall health. I am also readily available for my patients—even on weekends or holidays—something that you won’t find in most traditional medical practices.
Q:
What does the membership fee cover?
Members of our practice receive easy availability to me by phone, text, email or Skype plus same or next-day appointments with little or no wait time, and longer unhurried visits with me. I’m even available for you when you’re traveling or out of town! In addition, you will have access to advanced testing, screening and diagnostic tools, on-site blood work, expedited call-backs, and my direct, personal communication with your specialists or other providers you see.
Q:
Will I still benefit from being a member even if I don’t expect to need frequent medical attention?
We shouldn’t wait to get sick to see our doctor. Many people believe they should only treat illness when it happens, instead of identifying and preventing disease before it starts. My unique approach to wellness explores your personal and genetic risk factors for disease and then develops a specialized plan to keep illness away. Don’t wait for a problem that needs to be fixed. Our in-depth, advanced testing, genetic work-ups, and extensive history and physical assessment can tell us a great deal about what’s happening deep inside your body so we can prevent illness or stop disease in its tracks.
Q:
How do I become a member?
The membership agreement can be requested via email or picked up at our office. Simply sign the membership agreement and provide a form of payment. For more details, please call 850-249-5414.
Q:
How much is the membership fee?
A membership fee is required to be a medical patient of Dr. Myra Reed. Please call the office at 850-249-5000 to discuss the rate or set up a meet and greet with Dr. Myra Reed.
Weight loss, hormone pellets, IV therapy, aesthetics such as Botox, Dysport, radiofrequency microneedling, skin pen PRP, vaginal rejuvenation, and medical marijuana are separate services that do not require a membership. They are separate from the medical membership fee and medical practice.
Q:
What are some potential cost savings from membership?
- Savings in reduced medications (Reduced dependency on medications because the root problem is addressed instead of just treating the symptoms alone)
- Savings in urgent or walk-in care costs. We can use telemedicine to evaluate rashes, bites, infections, etc. then call in medications. You can also contact me for treatment of acute issues when you are traveling.
- Savings in possible ER visits. For problems that are not medical emergencies, I am personally available to my patients by phone, Skype, text, or email. In many cases, I can diagnose and treat the need without a visit to the ER. In fact, concierge medicine has been shown to result in fewer ER visits for members because we can discuss your medical needs any time of the day or night.
Q:
Can I enroll in your practice at a later date?
As long as there is an available spot, enrollment is open year-round. A waiting list is maintained on a first-come, first-served basis in the event the practice is full.
Q:
May I schedule a non-medical appointment so that I can meet Dr. Reed and discuss membership?
We do offer the opportunity to meet Dr. Reed prior to joining her Personalized Medicine program. You may schedule a non-medical meet and greet by calling 850-249-5414.
